Great Yarmouth Holidays Through The Decades

Britannia Pier 1953

Tourism has been a part of Great Yarmouth and Gorleston-on-Sea for many, many years. In 1844 and the arrival of the railways, day trips were made possible. With the Bank Holiday Act passed in 1871, it gave the working class the chance to get away for the day.

Take a look at our collection of past holiday brochures, ranging from the 1930s right through to 2018, when the council printed their last holiday brochures.

There will also be a collection of old posters on view featuring slogans such as 'The Holiday You'll Treasure' and 'The Resorts that have Everything'.

Available to see in the Atrium from Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 September from 10am to 4pm.

No need to pre-book.
